Wyatt is our five-year-old Springer Spaniel that lives life chasing birds or playing hard with our five-year-old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. Thanks to Dr. Richardson, Wyatt is once again living the “go big or go home” dog life. Last year we started to notice that Wyatt was limping after a long day of chase and play, and then in November, Wyatt stopped using his back leg. After a trip to the Vet and looking over his X-rays, we were informed that Wyatt would need TPLO surgery. Little did we know that Wyatt was going to be receiving amazing care from Dr. Richardson. We strictly followed the care instructions given to us by Dr. Richardson, which meant eight weeks on a leash when Wyatt needed to go outside. Dr. Richardson checked in with us throughout the entire process by phone or text; we never felt alone or unable to ask questions. At Wyatt’s eight-week appointment, the X-rays showed that the bone still needed more time to heal, and true to our commitment, we stuck with it for four more weeks until the X-rays showed that the bone was healed.

Thank you, Dr. Richardson, for giving Wyatt a chance to run, chase and play. We are forever grateful for your guidance and support throughout the entire process.

Dr. Dan did the surgery on our two-year-old dog Baylee. After the surgery, he called and explained everything that he did during the surgery. He explained what our dog might do for the next 12 hours. He also emailed us her after-care instructions. They were very thorough. We have followed those instructions, and Baylee is doing great. Dr. Dan checked in with us several times to check on Baylee. I would recommend Dr. Dan to help anyone that needs surgery for their dog.

I would highly recommend Dr. Dan. He was honest, helpful, and above all, caring. My dog and I were out mountain biking when my dog took a big spill resulting in her hip being dislocated. Even though Dr. Dan was closing within 5 minutes of my arrival, he openly accepted us. After x-rays, he informed me that we would have to do a surgical hip toggle for the dislocated leg. I reached out to specialists In the area to schedule a surgery, and everywhere was booked for 3-4 weeks. I informed Dr. Dan about the wait time. He took it upon himself to special order the toggle and performed the surgery the next day. My dog is fully recovered and healthy. I owe it to him and his team for the rapid recovery. I won’t trust anyone else with my animals except Dr. Dan.

I cannot recommend Dr. Dan Richardson highly enough… Our five month old Border Collie puppy broke her back leg in two spots and needed immediate surgery…Dr. Dan immediately worked her into his schedule and did an excellent job… I had been told by our local vet clinic that the only two options I had for this type of surgery would be in Sun Valley or West Vet in Boise… Thankfully, I found a third option and I am so grateful to have found Dr. Dan Richardson as driving to Sun Valley would’ve been very inconvenient and the cost at West Vet was estimated to be more than double the price. Dr. Dan is not only a very competent surgeon, he is a very caring, loving vet and was excellent about communicating with me… He followed up with Onix’s after care and hopefully, I will not need his services again in the near future, but if we do there’s no question who I would immediately call.

Dr. Richardson was great with my dog, Keidiss. He did surgery on both knees. I really appreciated the follow-up he provided to make sure Keidiss was healing correctly.

In the spring of 2019, my Mini Australian Shepard, Charlie, fractured his ulna. He spent 12 weeks in a splint, and the veterinarian deemed it healed. He showed no signs otherwise. A year later, in the winter, he was limping and packing his leg. With supplements and some anti-inflammatories, it seemed to improve. In the spring of 2021, we went for a hike, and Charlie found a badger hole with a wonderful scent and, after a glorious dig, found himself in pain and limping terribly.

Emmett Medical Center did x-rays and shared with me the sad news that Charlie’s fracture had never healed. Connective tissue had filled in the fracture space rather than bone, and it had been displaced with activity. I was heartbroken.

Dr. Gillespie told me about the procedure that Dr. Richardson could perform, but that because it had been 2 years since the injury, there were questions as to how successful it would be. Dr. Richardson took a bone graph from Charlie’s humerus, scrapped the connective tissue away from the ulna and debrided down to the bloody marrow, implanted the bone graph, and put in a plate and screws.

I am so happy to say that Charlie is back to full activity level and is a very active 11-year-old. He is so overjoyed to hike and swim with me again! Dr. Richardson and the team were compassionate, economical, and communicated at an incredibly high level. I will seek out this team for all my pet care needs.

Izzy, a very athletic 3 yr old, began limping all day, everyday, after her morning walks/runs. After reviewing her X-rays & symptoms with my local vet, Dr. Richardson arrived as scheduled and proceeded to repair Izzy’s knee with TPLO surgery. Dr. R. called 3 times to check on Izzy in the first 5days after her surgery. Then…it was 8 long weeks keeping her confined and walking her on leash to do her potty business. Dr R. texted or called every week to check on her progress. Both Izzy and I could hardly wait for Dr. R. to release her, which he did at 8 wks when X-rays showed the bone had healed. Still, she limped. Dr. R. was wonderful as he consulted with me about what to do or expect. He decided to restrict Izzy’s activities again. Three weeks later, she is a whole dog!!! She is back on the horse trails with me and my horse, and never misses a step on our 2-3 mile walks.

Throughout the entire process I felt Dr. R. was sincerely concerned for Izzy’s well-being and I felt free to call or text him. He always responded within an hour or two. I won’t hesitate to call upon him again should Izzy blow out her other knee.
